COVID-19 AFFECT MORE MEN THAN WOMEN ACCORDING TO RESEARCH BY SCIENTIST



Scientist went to figure out why COVID- 19 affects more men than women. Data collected from Chinese cases revealed that death rate of 64% for men and 36% for women. The same patterns was seen in data collected from Europe and South Korea, it is still too early to come to conclusion about the COVID-19 gender gap. Nonetheless, researchers propose a number of reasons to explain this, Males and Females have major structural differences in their bodies this includes tissues, organ and even immune system. Women tend to have greater immune responses to a variety of viruses, scientist examined the plasma for confirmed COVID-19 patient, they found that woman had higher levels of antibodies that men this may Indicate different degrees of immune response between men and women. 

Females have more hormonestrogen, which has been shown to protect against a wider range of viral infection. A study shows that female have the advantage of two x chromosomes, these give them an extra copy of genes that essentials for the immune response, ales on the other hand have one x chromosome and one y chromosome the differences in genes between sex chromosomes affect the immune responses.
Men are more likely to engage in risky behaviours such as smoking and drinking which put them at higher risk of lung cancer and cardiovascular disease.
